Events Planner for a
Nonprofit Organization located in
New York City (Midtown East). The position is a
Full-Time, Hybrid, Temporary (~3 months) assignment.
ORGANIZATION TYPE: Nonprofit LOCATION: New York City (Midtown East) POSITION TITLE: Events Planner DURATION: Temporary (~3 months) SCHEDULE: Full Time (35 hrs./wk.); Hybrid (3-4 days in office depending on workload) PAY RATE: $22-26/hr. DOE Is This Your Dream Job? As the Events Planner, you will support the Vice President of Events and department initiatives.
Our Ideal Candidate: - 1+ years of experience in event planning and management, ideally in the nonprofit sector
- Bachelor's Degree preferred (but not required)
- Knowledge of IMIS, Surevey Money, or similar software required
- Proficient with website maintenance and web design highly preferred
- Superb time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Thrives in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment
How You Will Spend Your Day: Event registration:
- Event set up in IMIS (our memberships database)
- Registration processing, including payments and refunds
- Prepare/maintain event progress reports
- Supervise onsite registration desk & operations at major conferences
- Respond to general inquiries about events
Exhibit management:
- Determine exhibit opportunities & solicit exhibitor booth space from interested parties
- Manage the exhibit application process
- Process invoices, payments, receipts
- Collect, maintain & update exhibitor information and logo for acknowledgments
- Post/provide info for website/app/slideshow/signage
- Onsite point of contact for exhibitors
- Coordinate logistics with hotel, drayage company, staff, and 3rd parties as needed
- Maintain & build relationships with exhibitor contacts
Additional event planning tasks:
- Set up promotional emails
- Coordinate logistics with event venues such as AV and food & beverage.
- Budgeting - formulate registration & exhibit income targets based on history
- Ordering, shipping, packing, event supplies
- Pre/post-event surveys and evaluation
