We are hiring a Network Engineer for Peterson AFB, in Colorado Springs Colorado.
What you'll do:
Performs duties as assigned by the Operations Manager in support of operations
Operate and maintain an Air Force System system
Provides status updates, and minimizes unexpected interruptions in service
Provides Tier-3 Network Administration leadership in supporting network infrastructure which includes physical layers, Layer-2/3 hardware, VoIP, VPNs, switches, firewalls, and access points
Develops, maintains, and supports networks in NSX-T, implementing network and VLAN technologies
Supports the operations and maintenance of the VMware virtual infrastructure
Provides security and network support for physical networking and firewall services
Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs/fixes for network hardware related problems
Monitors the automation of network deployment and configuration, along with the integration of infrastructure (computer/storage) automation
Performs system, performance, and environmental monitoring as it pertains to networking infrastructure
Serve as escalation point and technical negotiations with vendors
Configure and monitor network security layers
Researches, recommends and implements network policies and standards, ensuring adherence to security procedures
Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades
Leads the evaluation on installation readiness and provides oversight for deployed teams
Conducts on-the-job training for installation deployment for mentoring new team members
Create technical support documentation for network systems
Manages Network Operations centrally and remotely for the ISN infrastructure sites
Deploy release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility
Acts as liaison between contractor and Government Network operations team during troubleshooting efforts
Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs/fixes for network hardware related problems
Participate in a rotating schedule of IT on-call coverage and maintenance that occurs outside of normal business hours
5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD, in lieu of degree 9 years of applicable experience will be acceptable.
What you'll need:
VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Network Virtualization (VCAP6-NVDell
switches and routers preferred, Software Defined Network (SDN) - Virtual Network - Administrator NSX-T
In-depth experience with VMware Virtual Cloud Network and the NSX-T Data Center
architecture
DoD Secret security clearance is required
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or higher
CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+ CE certification
Required to have strong organizational skills and can easily prioritize project tasks
Required to have excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
