Supervisor: Program Director INTRODUCTION: Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center's Conditional Release Program (CONREP) is seeking a Registered Nurse to fulfill the role of Nurse Manager in its Satellite, Statewide Transitional Residential Treatment Program (STRP). This residential program provides court and parole mandated treatment and supervision to individuals committed as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, Offender with a Mental Health Disorder, or Incompetent to Stand Trial.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Nurse Manager is responsible for medical-related patient care services. They are expected to oversee all medication related personnel and collaborate with other disciplines and departments to maintain safety and quality of medical patient care.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES: - Administers nursing care, medications, treatments, and other procedures to selected clients as authorized by hospital policy, licensure, and standards of practice.
- Oversee the work of the Assistant to the Nurse Manager, including recruitment, training, evaluations, payroll, and discipline.
- Monitors and ensures clients take prescribed medications and records medications accurately.
- Educates clients on healthy lifestyle choices, diagnoses, medication, actions, and reactions, both individually and in group settings.
- Routinely consults with the Psychiatrist and Family Nurse Practitioner regarding treatment, medications, etc.
- Supports the Psychiatrist and Family Nurse Practitioner by scheduling appointments, forwarding all necessary documentation (e.g. clinical reports, labs)
- Schedules and requests blood draws from the phlebotomist.
- Orders, receives, reconciles, and stocks medical supplies and medications as needed in conjunction with Medication Technician and PPC staff to ensure prescribed medications and supplies are in stock at all times.
- Coordinates with the pharmacy on all medication insurance authorization requests (i.e. TARs) and enrolls clients in patient assistance programs (e.g. Janssen Connect).
- Monitors, reconciles, and approves all pharmacy and lab invoicing.
- Acts as a liaison with pharmacy and lab personnel.
- Participates in treatment team meetings, in-service training, and other meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinates with treatment team on clients' forensic treatment and supervision plan to incorporate that information into determining how best to proceed with nursing interventions.
- Observes and promptly reports changes in clients' conditions and behavior to the treatment team.
- Delegates responsibilities to the Assistant to the Nurse Manager as warranted.
- Provides training to treatment team staff on nursing related matters (e.g. orienting PPC staff to medication room procedures).
- Plans medical and medication schedules and executes as necessary.
- Completes and maintains all required documentation, including electronic records, in a timely, accurate, and organized manner.
- Uses written communication effectively to document in accordance with all regulatory agency and hospital requirements.
- Responsible for updating, maintaining, and implementing the nursing/medication policy and procedure manual for respective sites.
- Administers and documents all staff and client TB tests, maintains due date log.
- Provides on-call coverage as scheduled for emergency consultation and intervention outside of regular work hours.
- Takes the lead in emergent and emergency medical situations (i.e., assesses client, notifies staff administration, police, fire department, ambulance and paramedics, as appropriate)
- Ensures emergency transportation is arranged for medical emergencies.
- Provides nursing support to other programs such as CRTP.
- Collaborates regarding care with FCTP staff and other CONREP programs.
- Assists in situational crisis intervention as needed.
- Recognizes which tasks are a priority or urgent and proceeds accordingly.
- Seeks learning opportunities to gain new knowledge/skills which result in continuous quality improvement.
- Seeks appropriate guidance from immediate supervisor to achieve expected outcomes.
- Maintains a competence in all clinical skills necessary for performance of duties.
- Maintains competence in interpersonal skills necessary to direct and supervise ancillary staff.

- Contributes to a positive therapeutic milieu by action and responsible communication with coworkers, supervisors and administration on any issue of concern relevant to job responsibilities and the agency.
- Performs other additional related tasks as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: - Two (2) years' experience in an acute hospital or outpatient setting.
- Psychiatric patient experience.
- Knowledge of behavior modification approach.
- Possesses knowledge of current trends in psychiatric client care, management theories, nursing acuities and therapeutic. milieu, Client Rights, and Title 22 AOA requirements.
- High degree of interpersonal skills, communication, and collaboration.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES - RN
- Completion of certified medical training program Current licensure by the California State Board of Nursing
REQUIREMENTS - Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
- Valid California Driver's license.
- TB clearance.
- Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
- Fire and Safety Training*.
- First Aid Training Certification*.
- CPR Certification*.
- Crisis Prevention Institute Training* (CPI)**
* Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
**Training needs to be completed within 30 days from the date of hire on a designated date provided by on-boarding. Staff need to be certified at the commensurate level for their role to perform their job duties (staff will be the taken off the schedule if certification is not achieved).

Qualifications EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES - Associate Degree in Nursing Educational courses or degrees in Psychology or related fields
- RN- Current licensure by the California State Board in Nursing
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS - Two (2) years' experience in an acute hospital or outpatient setting
- Psychiatric patient experience
